Fahy scrive: Dr. Fahy schreibt: The picture "is a characteristic work by the anonymous painter known as the Master of the Capana Panels. It was I who first isolated his work; I recognized fifteen of his paintings in my 1967 doctoral dissertation. Some Followers of Domenico Ghirlandaio, pp. 216 - 18, where I called him the Master of Tavernelle. The name was changed by Federico Zeri in his article Una congiunzione tra Firenze e Francia; il Maestro dei Cassoni Camapana (Diari di lavoro 2, Torino, 1976, pp. 5 - 78); Zeri also added eight more paintings to the master's oeuvre and suggested that he might have been a French painter working in Tuscany".
